Tablas Creek En Gobelet 75cl
Our long-standing partnership with the Haas family at Tablas Creek shines brightest when honoring the most ancient traditions of the Rhône Valley. Tablas Creek En Gobelet is a unique, deeply flavorful red blend named after the traditional "gobelet" (goblet) method of growing vines. Instead of using modern wire supports, these vines are trained to grow close to the ground as self-supporting, low-lying bushes, a centuries-old practice that captures the pure essence of the land. Crafted from estate varieties grown from our family's historic Château de Beaucastel cuttings, this wine beautifully bridges traditional French heritage with California sunshine.
Because these unique bush vines are entirely dry-farmed, they produce fewer, smaller grapes with remarkably intense character. This forces the roots to dig deep into the limestone and clay soils to find nutrients. The winemakers at Tablas Creek carefully select and blend individual sections of Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, Counoise, and Tannat to showcase the vibrant fruit and distinct richness that only these old-school vines can deliver.
The resulting wine is highly rewarding for both passionate connoisseurs and casual enjoyers alike. It seamlessly marries juicy dark fruit flavors, like blackberry and plum, with savory, earthy undertones and a smooth, velvety texture. Whether you are looking to expand your cellar or simply searching for a spectacular, easy-drinking bottle to elevate your next dinner party, En Gobelet offers a beautifully balanced taste of true heritage winemaking.

Tablas Creek Vineyard
Founded in 1989 as a partnership between the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands, Tablas Creek represents a unique transplant: Rhône heritage, planted on Californian soil.
Recognising the exceptional limestone-rich soils and Mediterranean‑influenced climate of Paso Robles, the partners selected a 120‑acre parcel in the Adelaida District, about 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The estate sits at roughly 1,500 feet elevation on shallow, rocky soils of the same geologic origin as those at Beaucastel, a terroir remarkably similar to the southern Rhône.
To preserve the authenticity and genetic integrity of their Rhône varieties, Tablas Creek imported vine cuttings directly from Château de Beaucastel. These cuttings were quarantined under a USDA‑mandated program (beginning January 1990) to ensure they were virus‑free, then propagated in an on‑site nursery. The first grafted vines became available in 1993 and planting across the estate began in 1994.
That careful origin means every vine at Tablas Creek today carries the same heritage as those in the historic vines of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape, allowing the winery, and by extension wines such as Esprit de Tablas Blanc, to reflect both Rhône tradition and Californian terroir in harmony.
Paso Robles
The Paso Robles wine region, particularly the Adelaida District, offers a climate and soil profile that make it an ideal New World counterpart to the old Rhône Valley: hot, sunny days moderated by cool coastal breezes at night, enabling grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness and acidity.
Its limestone‑rich, rocky soils, deeply similar to those at Château de Beaucastel, give wines from Paso Robles a distinctive mineral backbone and terroir-driven character, helping to produce wines of elegance, depth, and balance.
The result is a region well suited to traditional Rhône varieties, now flourishing thanks to the pioneering work of Tablas Creek, a bridge between Old World heritage and New World expression.
